Due to cutting-edge innovations in industry and academia, research is more centered around multilevel inverters (MLIs), which play a significant role different high/medium voltage high-power applications when contrasted with traditional inverters. Relative analysis of the reduced DC source count switch inverter topologies highlight its benefits, include control complexity, count, reliability, efficiency, cost, stress, total harmonic distortion (THD), power quality. When switched-capacitor technology deployed, it seen that assistance 14 switches, 53 level result accomplished, THD just 1.41%, kept up as per IEEE 519-2014 norms. Whenever cascaded MLI topology employed, inversion efficiency prominent, about 99.06%. Hence, this review focuses on few late-evolved MLIs utilized, benefits drawbacks for are examined. To assist current modern field decision proper various applications, novel an can be planned later on. Different setups have been exhaustively covered reviewed.
